It is important to always buy fresh shark meat from reputable supermarkets or fish markets. As we previously mentioned, sharks can create a large quantity of urea because they urinate through their skins and, if the skin is not immediately and carefully removed, the taste will certainly determine you to order in for dinner.

Moreover, due to the overfishing of sharks in some waters, this type of fish can only be harvested in certain months and for certain amounts.

This is why we also suggest appealing to reputed fishers and fish companies that appeal to sustainable fishing without diminishing the shark populations in the waters. Sharks are vital for the waters they live in because they have the capacity to clean them as they mainly feast on corpses and smaller fish.

Grill steaks

The easiest and most popular way to prepare your shark meat is to cut it in steaks and fire it on the grill. Since shark meat contains a lot of fat, we strongly suggest you marinate it for at least one hour prior to the grilling. You can use a mixture of olive oil, sesame oil, rosemary, a lot of lemon juice, sea salt and freshly minced pepper, as well as a few garlic gloves.

Mix all the ingredients together and put the mixture on the fish steaks evenly. You can even use a zipper bag to put the marinade and the fish inside and then shake the bag firmly for a few minutes.

This way all the ingredients will slowly penetrate the shark’s meat and, when you put it on the grill, you will have a juicy, tender, and extremely flavored meat.

If you want to make sure your shark meat is perfectly grilled you have to cook it on the hottest part of the grill for two minutes on each side, and afterward, place it to the cooler part and let it grill for another four minutes. We suggest continuing seasoning the meat until it’s done by adding fresh rosemary, salt, pepper, and even ginger if you don’t like the taste of garlic.
